Gas Prices are Higher than ever for this time of year

Newsday -- Gasoline prices have never been higher this time of the year.

At $3.53 a gallon, prices are already up 25 cents since Jan. 1. And experts say they could reach a record $4.25 a gallon by late April.

Gas prices will continue to go up and be higher priced when oil is refined into fuel and exported to other countries for additional profits. Big oil will sell fuel and natural gas on the world market for higher prices, there will be NO price reduction for the cost of fuel or natural gas IN the US. Barry will support natural gas and oil production for sale to help pay for his spending gone wild addiction. The US ‘oil and natural gas resources’ belong to the citizens of this country and are to be used by those same citizens! Speculators, manipulators and the banks continue to unfairly and unjustly make the driving public pay higher prices at the pump for their benefit. How’s that ‘hope and change’ thingy working out for you today? Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle is, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. Consider using ‘other’ forms of transportation or car pool to lower your cost for transportation. The price of fuel at the pump is too high! 12/22/2012!

That subsidy was a drain on the economy (except for corn farmers) and promoted an inferior product. Its repeal has caused a small part of the runup in the price of blended (contaminated) gas. Motorists should make a point of buying ethanol-free gas whenever it is available and pressure Congress for repeal of the ethanol mandate.

Thanks to the GB people for setting up the phone interview. The problem with high gas prices is that the demand is relatively inelastic in economic speak. People still have to get to work, buy groceries, pick up kids at school, etc. The alternatives that are always touted aren't real alternatives in most of the country. No bus service in many towns, car pooling doesn't work if one or more members have to work late, and so on.

The economy will exponentially go down. Affordable energy is a large component that touches all sectors. Wages are not going up, so the dollars shift from something else to fuel.

In May, 2011, "EXPERTS" predicted $ 5 a gallon by Labor Day. Now "EXPERTS" are once again predicting. They don't have a great track record for accuracy.

This cannot be good for our economy. It's certainly going to put a hurting on me and my business. This is a good time to adopt an energy policy that is more friendly to developing our own resources (crude oil, natural gas, coal, nuclear, etc.)

After all, the tree huggers don't want to get out from under the cartels even if pipelines could be the answer! <= The only thing the Keystone pipeline was the answer to was the question, "how can Canada export its tar sands oil to the international market?" -- because that's where that end product was always going to go. It certainly wasn't going to our gas stations. Nice try.
